Re: Inviting into "the house"?

There are a few things I want to mention in reference to this idea, first is Apollos, who taught something similar to the truth, but was off, until someone (Priscilla and Aquila) invited him into their home, to explain the way of God to him more adequately.

Acts 18:24-28

24 Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures. 25 He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervor and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.

27 When Apollos wanted to go to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote to the disciples there to welcome him. On arriving, he was a great help to those who by grace had believed. 28 For he vigorously refuted the Jews in public debate, proving from the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.
NIV

Also is the idea in James of bringing someone back to the truth. We could debate whether these people have ever known the truth, but some of their teachings are based in the truth of God's word.

James 5:19-20

19 My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, 20 remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.
NIV

But there is care that must be taken. Not everyone is competent to turn someone to the truth of God. Jude gives us an idea of what our attitude should be in his fiery book.

Jude 20-25

20 But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. 21 Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

22 Be merciful to those who doubt; 23 snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear-hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

24 To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy- 25 to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
NIV

First was build ourselves up, then treat with others. Specifically different people merit different reactions. Each individual is worthy of our effort, at least to find out what kind of person they are. Always rely on God. His word is so much more important than any man's could ever be.
