I had heard many times that Isaiah 53 had been excluded from synagogue readings long ago, but had never before seen a specific discussion of which or how many prophetic passages had been crossed off in the same manner. There may be other ways that "difficult passages" are suppressed in other groups as well, not a problem unique to the synagogue.
