An unfortunate piece of fiction Posted by CFry - December 01, 2001 at 4:09:08pm 1024x768x32 - Mozilla/4.78 [en] (Win98; U) In Reply to: ((( Jes-s Chr-st RESURRECTION /|\ Hell ))) Posted by Willbe - December 01, 2001 at 0:40:43pm:

I'm not sure why it was thought worthwhile to post this fiction from "The Gospel of Nicodemus" on the message board. It certainly does not reflect or harmonize with the authentic Biblical accounts of the work and resurrection of Jesus, nor does it offer any helpful instruction, encouragement, or even restatement of truth. Rather it reflects a medieval Catholic mindset, written hundreds of years after the events of Jesus' life on earth, and consistent with many of the fanciful narratives that arose later about the "adventures" of Jesus and his disciples. It is believed to have been written in the mid to late fourth century, and has never been considered scripture. Since the genuine Biblical account of Jesus death, burial and resurrection is so well attested as being first hand accounts of eye witnesses, and useful for life and godliness, it seems a shame to be fascinated with the later fanciful imaginings of people who had no connection with the events.
