Re: Some thoughts on rebaptism
Posted by tm - July 18, 2002 at 10:00:17pm:

Hi All,

I think now is the time to clarify any and all things. I never meant to
cause or create any hostility, anger, or judgment for or from anyone. If
there's one thing Tom Woody has taught me in working with our congregation
is LOVE. It must be done out of love. And though in many of the responses
there were scriptures, I felt the love may have been lacking.

So let me fill everyone in on a few things:

1. Brandon was baptized at a church that none of my family is familiar with.
He and other neighborhood kids had been attending this church and the
preacher was urging the kids telling them that baptism was necessary. I
think Brandon was one of many that were baptized that day. But none of their
mother's were there.

2. My mother who is a very faithful Christian, is only concerned for his
soul. Even though all of your points were correct and scriptural, she is
concerned with what actually happened (no one knows)

3. As Barry Poyner stated in his message, "to do it again is such as small
task to be sure".

I think all of this has been a learning experience for my entire family as
well as Brandon. I feel confident that when this is all over, Brandon will
be able to proudly boast of the Blood that paid the price.

I have printed all of the responses for Brandon to read. I think it will be
good for him to know of so many who care. Thank you all for being concerned
enough to take time from your busy schedules to offer us love and support as
Christians should.

Love in Him,
Joanne
