Hi Mike, The idea of emphasis has been in my thinking lately. I have recently been looking at scriptures that use the Greek word "dei" which is translated "must" "had to" "it is necessary." I want to place emphasis where God does. God tells us in John 3 that we "must" be born again, born of the water and the spirit. I am so grateful that God has stressed what is important. Consider Heb. 11:6, Acts 4:12, and John 4:24. Baptism is the point of commitment. It is a symbolic reenactment of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and therefore has deep meaning for the believer who desires to be baptized into Christ. I stess baptism because the Lord does. Not having been part of the entire chain of thought, new to this chat room, I hope I haven't made points already made :) Regards, Barry
