That's good. I was thinking about Genesis 1:1-2:4 as preface, and a number of Bible books have their own preface (such as the opening verses of Jeremiah or Isaiah) but the Old as preface to the New is quite consistent with Paul's discussion in Galatians 3. pref·ace n.
