It was my plan to post a reply about the canon, James, Hebrews, the apocrypha and all that tonight, but I find that the weekend has been too long, and I'm too tired to get it finished. I will hope to do that tomorrow. As a passing thought, it had been quite a few years since I last read the apocryphal book of Tobit. While I didn't find much affinity with the New Testament text in my current review, I did find what I think is a definite similarity to the treatment of angels in the television program, "Touched by An Angel." I hadn't really thought about the source of the perspective on angels in popular entertainment, and it isn't wholely derived from sources like Tobit, but the genre is much more inspired by Tobit than by any Biblical material.
