I have an old book that I thought was written by a Church of Christ member at first. It's called "The Gospel Plan of Salvation" by T.W. Brents. by Gospel Advocate in 1928, and it's even hard and fast on the essential nature of baptism. It is not until I browsed the chapter entitled "The Identity of the Church" that I realized it was from a Church of God persuasion. The chapter denounces denominationalism, advocating that the Church of God is not a denominational division of the body of Christ. It also affirms that "Church of God" is the only acceptable scriptural name that can be drawn from the Bible.
